Resort Pools

A small spring bubbles up over rocks in the lobby of the Wilderness Lodge, and turns into a stream that flows outside. You can follow that water as it widens and becomes a 15-foot waterfall, emptying into the Silver Creek Springs feature pool.  Swimming in Silver Creek Springs is like swimming in a small forest… with a waterslide and a hot tub!

The less flashy Hidden Springs pool also has a hot tub.

Arcade

The Buttons and Bells Arcade is off the lobby, and while it’s size may leave serious gamers feeling a little dissatisfied, it is still a good gathering place for teens staying at the lodge.

Grand Fireplace

The lobby of the Wilderness Lodge is impressive, and there are lots of comfortable places to sit and take it in. The Grand Fireplace is an especially nice place to hang out and people watch. You can also look for “Hidden Mickeys” at the hotel – ask for a list from the front desk.

Take a bike ride or get a workout

Wilderness Lodge is a great place to rent a bike or Surrey Bike, because you can ride along a scenic path to the Cabins at Fort Wilderness. The path is one-mile long, so it’s walk-able, too.   For a workout indoors, try the Fitness Center.

Bay Lake Beach

There’s a permanent movie screen set up on Bay Lake beach near the boat launch for a nightly outdoor movie. A different movie is scheduled every night, and selections are a mixture of new Disney releases and classics. You’re bound to find a movie that appeals to you during your trip. The beach is also a great place to catch the nightly Electric Water Pageant, and the Magic Kingdom fireworks.

Fire Rock Geyser

Wilderness Lodge has it’s own geyser, inspired by Old Faithful at Yellowstone National Park. Fire Rock Geyser shoots up a plume of water 120 feet high, every hour on the hour.

Snacks around the resort

The Wilderness Lodge Resort offers a refillable mug. Once you purchase the mug, you can enjoy unlimited free refills from Roaring Forks for the rest of your stay.  Whether you are on a dining plan, or have a little money to spend, there are many snacks available around the resort in the $1 – $4 price range at Roaring Forks or the Wilderness Lodge Mercantile.

Cruise around on Bay Lake

Pontoon Boats, Boston Whaler Montauks and Sea Raycers are available for rent at the Wilderness Lodge Marina. Anyone over 12 years old can drive his or her own Sea Raycer, with a parent’s permission.

Even without renting a boat, you can get out on the water. Boat transportation is available all day long from the Wilderness Lodge to the Magic Kingdom Park. You can also take a Water Taxi to Fort Wilderness, or to the Contemporary Resort. From the Contemporary, you’ll have access to the monorail line, which allows for easy resort hopping to the Polynesian and Grand Floridian – great when you’re looking for something else to do!

Visit the Fort

It doesn’t matter how you get there – resort bus, walking trails, bike or boat – being close to the Fort is a great benefit to staying at Wilderness Lodge.  Fort Wilderness has a long list of recreational activities available to day guests.
